More Rustalicious Fun And Finds

I know I've mentioned this before...I'm not sure where my fascination with rust comes from. I am always drawn to items that are rusty, or have the patina of blues and greens that goes along with rust. I just really enjoy the endless color combinations.

Recently I shared a blog post I came across on how to rust and patina small metal objects like keys, from a sweet lady by the name of Barb at Treasures From The Heart.

So I just had to give it a try . . . and here are the results.

Now what to do with these rusty little gems, I'm sure there are some craft projects that will come up. Keys and little metal pieces like the spring will definitely be on my list of things to look for at yard sales now, and I'm sure if I keep digging around here I will come across more somewhere.

Check out the tutorial at Treasures From The Heart here, and give it a try.

Other rusty goodies I thought I'd share

I found this rusty gem of a gas can holder at a yard sale and paid a whopping $2.00 for it.
It will eventually become a shelf somewhere around my home.
I love the blue and rust combo.

This rusty little bullet hole filled bucket I found up in a tree at an old homestead site,
it just had to come home with me.

My daughter thought I was crazy for buying this super rusty oven,
but for only $4.00 I just couldn't pass it up.

I will always be on the hunt for rusty goodies, and I will definitely be doing the Rust and Patina How To again. What kind of special rusty things or projects do you have? I would love to hear about it.

God bless and have a great day.

Hangin' Out At Home

Today has been one of those rare days when the three of us just lazed around the house, mostly watching an NCIS marathon and playing on some sort of electronic gadget. Modern day family time...

With a couple of inches or more of snow on the ground and more coming down, it was just a good day to stay in by the fire.

I did manage to be somewhat productive, installing a heated water warmer in the chicken coop, then taking down the Christmas tree and packing away some of the other decorations. I guess sadly, that means Christmas is officially over.

I spent a good share of the day bouncing around the internet, looking in on blogs I like to follow, and checking out fun stuff on Pinterest.

So thought I would share a few goodies I found today...starting with this fun how-to from
Treasures From The Heart an awesome blog with some fabulous stuff.

Check out this how-to on rust dyeing fabric...one of these days I am going to do this.
A great article and instructions are here at hobbyfarms.com

and then I couldn't resist a stop at Etsy after I saw these amazing earrings...
I would love these from blackstar.etsy.com

I don't know what my fascination is with rust, but sometimes I just can't get enough when it comes to decorating with it or searching for it at yard sales, so needless to say I have several treasures laying around.

There's these gorgeous weathered saw blades..most of which I inherited from my grandfather,
he used to do oil paintings on them.

or...this vintage egg scale

I dug this gem out of the dirt near an abandoned old house, it is one of my favorite finds.

And who wouldn't love the patina on this dustpan?
So what if it's missing it's handle.
I could go on and on, but I won't I will just leave you with a final photo of this lovely rusty cabinet I scored at a yard sale several years ago.
What kind of rusty treasures do you have laying around, please share as always I would love to hear about it.
Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

Toolbox, Tub, Flowers Oh My!

Today is looking like we will be in the 90's, so after chores, errands and a trip to the dentist, I'm really hoping my day will include a date with an old rusty tool box, a vintage cast iron bath tub, lots of dirt and flowers.

I'll post pictures as soon as I have some ready, but in the meantime a couple of pictures I discovered will serve as my inspiration and give you a little hint as to what I am up to...

Found this tool box example of rusty goodness at
confessionsofacurbshopaholic.com

Yes, I will be doing a version of this, and my husbands reaction was priceless!

My bathtub will look oh so sweet decked out in flowers like this one that had been shared on
funflowerfacts.com

and if I ask my husband to drag it around the yard one more time...well let's just say he didn't have a smile on his face, but he loves me and knows me. I'm am one lucky girl he's so understanding.

I will be back soon with pictures of my own soon, I promise...until then have a great day and thanks for spending a little bit of your day with me.

Have a great day!

Made It In An Etsy Treasury

It's always fun to have an item that is in my Toodlefetties Etsy Shop featured in a treasury. Recently peacenluv72 featured my vintage Boraxo tin, and my Rusty Heart Hanger has been featured in at least three treasuries in the last couple of months,

Stop by and check it out and show them some love.
